My name is Gérard Rolin. I live in a small village where I have spent 33 years teaching in a school of agriculture near lake Der in Champagne (200 km east of Paris), the second largest artificial lake in Europe and one of the best birding destinations in France and in Europe.
I’ve been watching birds here since 1982 so I know this area pretty well. I now work as a freelance birdwatching guide and I offer individuals or groups of up to 8 people to go birdwatching, either for half-day or whole day trips. Transportation in my minivan is included in my rates (www.birder.fr) and I can pick you up from your accommodation or from the nearest railway station (ask for conditions for the latter). We can either try to see as many birds as possible or concentrate on one or a few target species (have a look at the birdlist).
I love travelling and I have organized a few family birdwatching trips (Costa Rica, Venezuela, Thailand…). My lifelist is around 1,8OO species of which some 250 were seen in my area.
